The previous owner of our house told us that a mother snapping turtle comes each spring to lay her eggs. Well, yesterday was the day. Lynn happened to be on the front porch when the turtle (8 inches across and 14 inches nose to tail) came across the lawn looking for some soft earth. The garden seemed to be the ideal place, and she dug herself in. But our presence seemed to bother her; we would know her secret location! So she moved on. Our well water is not pure enough to drink, so we bought bottled water regularly. Then someone told us of a spring on the Francestown Turnpike. Now we stop on our way to church about once a month and fill six gallon jugs with pure, sweet spring water. I feel bad just walking away and leaving the water running. All that beautiful water going to waste! Feature: You say squirrels give you trouble at the bird feeder?
Don't feel bad! (Thanks to an email from
