October 9, 2006
On Wednesday, Lynn went to visit Matt and Crystal.
Crystal is eight-months pregnant,
and the baby is due on Nov. 13. Their cat, Yogi,
has grown some since the last picture a month
ago.
On Thursday I finally planted the Redbud
tree that has been sitting in a pot since early summer. (It's
the sparse little tree in the left foreground.) It didn't seem to
mind, going through the summer with healthy leaves and losing them in
the fall. It should reward us with blossoms
in the spring.
On Friday Lynn took two quilts into the Quilt Show in
Peterborough—the "Birds of a
Feather" she designed for Matt and Crystal, and an antique
"Ohio
Star" that came from my family. You can see some of the
other quilts that were being hung up for display (quilt
show 1 and quilt show 2).
I put a lamp post in
next to the entrance to the front garden. It makes a welcoming
glow at night.
Here's some fall foliage
down by the brook. Over the Memorial Day weekend, a lot of private
planes have been flying over, enjoying the nice weather and colors.
Feature for the day: "Who's
on First"—a comedy classic. (Click on "audio
clip.")
Quote for the day: "Don't
flatter yourself that friendship authorizes you to say disagreeable
things to your intimates. The nearer you come into relation with a
person, the more necessary do tact and courtesy become." — Oliver
Wendell Holmes, Sr.
