April 6, 2007

Back to winter for one last fling!  We got a light snowfall on March 25th, lining the branches with white.  Then on April 4 we got eight inches of wet snow that weighed down the pine bows and lined the branches again (here's a close-up).  It slid slowly off the roof like a glacier (here's looking down the curl).  The swamp on Rt. 136 is frozen with puffs of snow on the grass mounds, as the rising sun hits the hills.  Here's a view of North Pack Monadnock Mt. from Reid Rd.
The birds are grateful for the feeders, with juncos, cardinals, nuthatches, and starlings gathering to share the seed.  A bear came during the night to the bird feeders and tore them down.  He gnawed at the metal opening of one feeder but didn't breach it.
I've started making the doors for the bedroom closets.
