The house
is looking beautiful with the gardens developing and the foliage
out. A kingbird came
and sat for a minute on top of the barn's weathervane (close-up).
On Sunday afternoon the Town of Greenfield celebrated
Memorial Day with a parade, a ceremony, and an ice cream
social. The social was sponsored by the GIVers (Greenfield
Independent Volunteers). Lynn and I are members of the GIVers, and
we helped serve the ice cream.
There are many little white wildflowers
blooming now in the woods and in the grass. We put a bench on the lookout
point, and as we sat enjoying the view, we saw a large Jack-in-the-pulpit
just a few feet in front of us. As we came back to the house, we
passed through an area in the woods with a half-dozen pink
lady's slippers blooming.

Quote for the Day - "It
may be long before the law of love will be recognised in international
affairs. The machineries of government stand between and hide the hearts
of one people from those of another."—Mahatma
