I ordered five cords of wood and worked an hour a day for a week to get them under cover.  A friend who's moving gave us another cord, making six cords.  So we should be set for the winter; we used five cords last winter, which was mild.
We've been 20 days without significant rain.  The last time that happened we watered all the gardens, and the well went dry.  So this time we're pumping from Rand Brook to water the gardens.  Puzzle—can you find the frog in the pump picture?  A hint is upside-down below if you need it.
At this time of year goldenrod dominates the landscape.  When you walk out in a field, you hear a constant "buzz" from all the bees.  Here's the growing list of wildflowers on the property.  Note that Joe-Pye weed and boneset are really the same genus (Eupatorium) but different-colored species.
Lynn visited Matt, Crystal, and River and got this cute picture.
