December 22, 2007 Happy
winter solstice! The noon
shadows are as long as they get today, and that's pretty long at
latitude 43°N up here in Greenfield, NH. The total accumulation
of the last three snow storms is 17
inches, so it's looking like a real New England winter. A nuthatch
sought refuge from one of the storms by sitting on a bird feeder under
our eaves. The temperature has been hovering around freezing, so
we've developed some hefty icicles.
Four times a day I carry a
bag of firewood from the shed to the house (the extended right arm
helps counterbalance the load). We illuminate
the barn with its wreath at night. Feature - Ice patterns Quote for the Day - “Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you” - Kurt Cobain of the grunge rock band Nirvana, 1967 The Philosopher's Cornered - Dealing with Randomness Archives |
