New Year came in with a rosy dawn.  That block of ice hanging off the roof probably weighs 400 pounds.  Here's a piece of it after it fell (ice is blue, not clear!).  We had a sheet of plywood placed to protect the plants when it fell.  This shot shows other ice slipping off the metal roof.  At the back of the house are some icicles growing at crazy angles.  Under the pines where there's less snow, the squirrels are eating the pine-cone seeds.
We spent Christmas at Sarah and Steve's new house in Thetford VT.  Matt, Crystal, and River were there too, as well as Steve's parents and brother.   So their large house slept twelve people one night.  The grandkids were great and enjoyed each other.  Christmas dinner was delicious ham, and dessert was pecan pie with whipped cream.  The next day eight of us went for a hike through the snow around the 42 acres.  The kids got rides on the snowmobile and on the sled pulled behind it.  Here's a whole page of pictures.
On Thursday, we had Lori and Scott White and their daughter Sue Mai over for dinner.  She turned four years old on December 29.
For the past week I've been feeding some farm animals for a neighbor.  The sheep wait for me to put corn in their trough, and then they dive in.  The chickens fuss around the door when they see me coming; waiting to be fed.  I harvested 7 to 14 eggs every day.
